Emily & Joe's Manor House Wedding

Emily and Joe talk us through their wonderfully romantic, quintessentially British wedding that was held in Essex.

Emily and Joe talk us through all the details of their romantic, quintessentially British wedding that they had in their home county of Kent.

We chose to get married in our home county of Kent and Eastwell Manor ticked all the boxes for us. It had breathtaking views and meant we could have accommodation, ceremony, and our reception all in one place. We wanted our son Luca to be involved in our day as much as possible and with everything being under one roof, this venue was just perfect. We were very lucky that our guests could stay with us as well. This was wonderful, as our initial plan was to make this a weekend celebration. Many of our guests stayed the night before the wedding and it was so lovely to share these moments with our friends and family.

For the wedding itself, we wanted a classical and romantic theme, we chose white and blush tones to reflect this and we used Pinterest and Instagram for ideas and inspiration. We used various suppliers to decorate our venue. I had a vision as to what our day would look like so I did lots of research and I was so pleased with how it all came together. It is not easy to stay within budget, especially when you have your heart set on certain things. We decided what parts of our wedding we wanted to spend more of our budget on. For example, flowers were a big factor for us and we decided to invest in getting exactly what we envisioned.

I purchased my dress from Pantiles Bride in Tunbridge Wells. I had no idea what I wanted until I started to try on different styles. I chose the dress that I felt the most beautiful in and could see myself walking down the aisle with. I knew that I wanted to look back at our wedding photos and still look like me though. I think that booking hair and makeup trials are really important to get a feel for what you like and what you don’t like! I opted for a soft glam look for me and my bridesmaids and it looked natural and stunning on all of us.

We planned our wedding in less than 9 months so our main challenge was arranging everything in a short time frame. Our top tip for planning a wedding would be not to stress about everything being perfect and going exactly to plan on your big day, go with the flow as much you can! We'd really recommend having a toastmaster to help you out, our toastmaster Jim was excellent and ensured our day ran as smoothly as possible.
