Ashley and Bilal's Amalfi Wedding
With floral urns and a petal aisle, this real life wedding is dripping in romance and glamour. Find out why bride Ashley was ready by 5am on her big day...
Ready, Set, Elope
After a chance meeting in a Los Angeles hotel, Ashley and Bilal never looked back.
“From our very first date, we never left each other’s side,” Ashley smiles. “When Bilal proposed, it was magical. He surprised me at our friend’s house, I opened the door and the room was filled with roses and balloons, with our favourite song playing and a slideshow of photos. Our family and friends were waiting in the garden to celebrate, with a huge ‘will you marry me?’ sign in lights with more roses and candles.”
Finding the One
It was at a Pronovias dress sample sale that bride Ashley found the dress of her dreams. “I didn’t have much time to find my dress, but I knew I wanted a fitted dress with a long train. I tried on several designs at the sale, but none of them were ‘the one’. I explained a bit more about what I was hoping for, and they pulled one from the back for me. I tried it on and fell in love, it was simple and dramatic at the same time.”
Her groom looked dashing in a black tuxedo with peak lapel, cutaway collar and bowtie.
Jet, Set, Go
No strangers to romance, Ashley and Bilal opted for one of the dreamiest destinations in the world for a totally romantic elopement - Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
“The venue spoke for itself with amazing mediterranean views, a garden, flowers, trees - it was beautiful from the beginning. We added floral urns and a petal aisle for our elopement ceremony, and enjoyed an intimate dinner after the ceremony with flowers and candles.”
The couple’s day actually dawned early, with the bride and groom heading to the Terraza Dell’Infinito at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, for first look photos.
“The lighting was at its best at 5:30am, so that’s when we went! We managed to get some really stunning couple shots before having our evening ceremony. It was such an emotional day and it really allowed us to connect on a deep level,” the couple reminisce.
“Having a destination elopement wedding took a lot of stress away and let us focus on each other for our special day, which is the most important part. You’ll make memories to treasure forever so make sure you get a professional wedding photographer to capture those moments. Also, definitely get a good wedding planner, Victoria at Sophisticated Weddings is the best if you’re having an Amalfi Coast wedding. She made everything super simple,” Ashley and Bilal mused.
