Alex and Will’s Rustic Barn Wedding
This beautiful barn wedding in Cornwall is brimming with winter wedding inspiration. Liberty Pearl Photography captures every final detail.
Alex and Will's Pawfect Proposal Spot in Cornwall By The Sea
It was in the charming Cornish village of St Mawes where groom Will proposed to bride Alex.
“Will never books romantic holidays for us, but he surprised me with this one and even arranged a day off with my boss!” smiles Alex. “We’d been for a long walk with our dog Bertie and Will organised an afternoon tea proposal. I’d gone to collect our cockapoo, who’d jumped over a wall, and returned to see the ring box on the table. The rest, as they say, is history!”
Best of The West
The couple set the date for December at their barn wedding venue in Cornwall, Trevenna Farms. “Will was keen for a winter wedding because he hated the idea of being too hot on his wedding day. I also didn’t fancy a summer date and I wasn't worried about the weather.”
“It was the perfect dog-friendly wedding venue in Cornwall with a village feel because so many guests could stay with us all weekend. It was ideal as many of our family and friends were coming from afar and being able to host them felt really special. The barn wedding backdrop was a blank canvas, so we could also add our own rustic decoration ideas to suit us personally,” Alex recalls.
Despite confessing that she didn’t enjoy visiting wedding dress shops, we think this bride pulled it out of the bag with her silk gown design with delicate spaghetti straps.
“It felt so right because I felt so comfortable in it. We added a sparkly belt and a bridal capelet to keep me warm. Our dog whined the whole way through the ceremony (you can even hear it on the video!) because he wanted to jump up at me, but of course, I couldn’t risk that with my silk dress,” the bride laughs.
Wanting a winter wedding aesthetic that didn’t shout Christmas, the couple styled their celebrations in elegant tones of silver, blue and white.
“Our barn wedding venue was really seamless on the organisation front, so we didn’t need to do much at all. It was totally stress-free and we’d definitely recommend it.”
A Wedding to Remember
“For me, it was going onto the Moors for a little while to take photos of just the two of us,” smiles Alex when reflecting on the magical moments. “It was a chance for us to say ‘can you believe what we’ve just done?!’ and enjoy time together before the meal and dancing. Our wonderful photography team were fantastic, capturing and recording all elements of the day.”
The newlyweds jetted off on their honeymoon to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, choosing one of the honeymoon packages from Kuoni Travel. When asked what they thought of it, the couple had just three words: “Best holiday ever!”
