Janet Edwards Florist

Affordable flowers and expert advice

Description

Janet Edwards Florist was formed 14 years ago after being made redundant from Local Government. She turned to floristry to break the 9-5 routine of the office by going to an adult institute to do a basic course in floristry as a hobby which became a passion. “I loved it so much and did all the classes but there was no certificate at the end, so I took myself off to evening classesto study my City & Guilds level1 and 2 over two years. I then went on to do a weddings intermediate course and modern pedestal arrangements. While doing this after a hard week in the office I did work experience in a local florist in East Dulwich for 2 years, which to date has helped me throughout my floristry career. After being made redundant, it was a hard decision to start my business but I felt the fear and did it anyway.I looked around Brixton and noticed there were no flower shops around and decided to open one here. In 2017 I went on to study my Diploma in Floristry at Capel Manor College. It was hard work going twice a week and coming back to the shop later to finish orders. For me on this course going to Holland to see how flowers and plants were cultivated was a real eye opener and how the flowers were sold in the stock market, and that’s why the prices are not the same every day. We are taking bookings for 2025 and are offering a 10% discount to Weddings & Honeymoons couples who spend over £3,000 before April 2025
