The intimate and boho chic ambience of Mahayana acted as the magical backdrop for Thuy and Paul’s seafront celebration in Tulum, Mexico. The couple opted for a relaxed destination wedding with 25 of their closest family and friends and they made the right choice as the day was personal and intimate, exactly as they imagined it to be. “I was surprisingly very relaxed, I was soaking in the day, the people and all the beautiful details,” gushes bride Thuy. The bride and groom fell in love with their venue and what won them over was that it could host all of their guests on-site so they could spend the moments prior to and after the wedding with their special people, and then retire to their private luxury casas when tired without having to leave the grounds. “Everyone had fun in the days leading up to the wedding and I was ready to marry the love of my life… Having everyone stay close and spending time together leading up to the wedding made the big day feel even more special to us,” Paul recalls with a smile.

The entire occasion was held directly on the powder-soft sands of Mexico, overlooking the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea. The bride embraced barefoot luxury by gliding down the aisle without shoes but bejewelled with a precious ring anklet. “Neither of us wore shoes by the end of the night!”, they laughed. For their wedding ceremony, the couple wanted minimalist décor with a few pops of colour to enhance the bohemian flair of the event. The main aesthetic additions were the beautiful floral arch framing the main event enriched with foliage and lush roses of white, blush and red hues and a long table setting adorned with wooden elements and colours such as burnt orange and a touch of peach.

Neutral tones were used throughout and worked perfectly with the tropical natural surroundings of Mahayana. Getting married on the beach meant that they didn’t have to worry about formalities, they could celebrate nature and they made the right decision by having Carlos, their shaman perform their union. “Carlos, our shaman, made the ceremony very spiritual and it really fit with being on the beach in Tulum,” shares groom Paul. A spiritual and serene beach wedding in Mexico surrounded by love was exactly what the couple had always hoped for, and their destination wedding dream became a reality when they found the blissful shores of Mahayana Tulum to welcome all of their wedding wishes.
