Wedding Planner Wonders & Weddings
Almost exactly a year on from a rainy proposal in Canada, Tasheen and Grace wed in front of their closest friends and family. “We wanted to chose a date as close to one year from our engagement as we could,” the couple explained, “plus November is a good month in Chiang Mai and it meant we could celebrate with Grace’s biological family too, which was really important to us.” Our lovebirds had quite a few wedding ceremonies, but this one was an intimate destination wedding with around 35 family and friends hailing from Thailand, Japan and Canada. Grace told us more… “My most special moment was when my family met my biological family for the first time and also the lady who arranged the adoption. It was very emotional and meant the world to me.”
The couple settled on the Panviman Resort after looking for waterside locations and were won over by the stunning photographs of the space. “The pictures did not do it justice,” they gushed, “the General Manager, Khun Panja, even arranged the jaw-dropping florals which were so beautiful as a ceremony backdrop and he had thought of every little touch, it made us feel so special and he is the epitome of professionalism.”
Grace’s dress was also a melting pot of cultures, combining her Western and Thai background with Tasheen’s Indo Fijian customs, and a little help from mom! “After much research with my mom, we created a vision of a western white gown with a custom scarf that ran from my waist over my shoulder to honour my culture as well as the one I was joining,” Grace reminisced, “my mom meticulously aligned lace over a stunning gold satin for the scarf and sewed it onto my dress to complete it on the wedding morning.” As the perfect complement to her couture dress, Tasheen stunned in an ocean blue suit with brown accessories that paired perfectly with the green Thai landscape.
Nestled in the stunning mountains of Chiang Mai, the day was everything the couple had dreamed of with traditional Thai architecture, blooms of floral delights and elegant décor. “We left the styling up to the venue and our wedding planner and we could not have been more delighted with the outcome. Leaving our planner Wannida to head up the wedding was our best decision because it meant we could enjoy the whole experience and she could plan how the day would flow and tell us which suppliers can help us. She is an absolute miracle worker!”
