As the sun dipped below the horizon, Alan and Joy exchanged vows in a small, intimate wedding on the idyllic Island of Corfu. Their love story was a celebration of love that transcended continents and cultures, bringing together cherished friends and family from around the world. “We invited only our closest family and friends,” gushed the bride, “we wanted it to be an intimate atmosphere, with enough time to spend with every guest. 62 people came from all over the world to witness our African/Greek wedding, and we believe it was the perfect number.”
Their journey to this magical day began during the African History Month at Werkstatt derKulturen in Berlin, where their paths first crossed, sparking a friendship that blossomed into a deep and enduring love. From that moment, their connection only grew stronger, leading them on a path that culminated in a wedding that would etch itself into their memories forever. Choosing Corfu as their wedding destination held a special significance for Alan and Joy. The island had been the setting for their very first holiday together, a time that left an indelible mark on their hearts. Their love for the island was immediate and enduring, and they knew that it was where they wanted to begin the next chapter of their lives together. “It has been our first couple holiday” said the newlyweds “and we will never forget. We fell in love with the island and knew that we would be back. We never wanted to get married in Germany. A destination wedding was always our dream. Where friends and family get together for a holiday, and everyone enjoys themselves.”
The enchanting backdrop of Corfu provided the perfect canvas for their union. Lush palm leaves, fragrant olives, and vibrant proteas mingled with Dutch tulips, agapanthus, and wildflowers, creating a poetic tableau that symbolised the harmony and diversity of their love. As the evening unfolded the air was filled with the soulful sounds of Afrobeats creating a truly joyous occasion. “This is the energy and vibe we knew our guests and ourselves would vibe with.”
This magical elopement set in the enchanting olive gardens of Corfu, wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of their amazing planner, Goldie. “When I found Goldie, I was the happiest girl in the world” recounts the bride. “From the beginning on I felt like we had the same understanding and taste. The meetings and communication was very personal. I truly liked that, as it gave me the feeling I can totally trust her with my wedding.”
