Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine was flown out to the BBFW 2025 by Almanac Barcelona, one of the hotel sponsors of the show and got to experience the glamour of the event right at the centre of it all. With so many catwalks and a trade show for fostering new partnerships, there’s so much we took away from this year’s showcase. With 44 Spanish and international brands taking over the runway, there’s much to attract brides as they navigate the world of bridal. Here are the SS26 trends to look out for…
Extra Volume
Iconic designers Ines Di Santo and Vivienne Westwood are currently championing a resurgence of historical elegance in their recent collections, presenting breathtaking and theatrical gowns lavishly embellished with delicate lace and ethereal tulle. These stunning creations masterfully evoke the grandeur of bygone eras, particularly through the incorporation of voluminous skirts. However, this nostalgic nod is seamlessly interwoven with undeniably modern elements in each design. This contemporary twist manifests in the daring use of vibrant and unexpected colour palettes, injecting a fresh energy into the classic forms. Furthermore, a playful and imaginative application of ruffles and lace adds layers of texture and visual interest, preventing the designs from feeling like mere reproductions and firmly establishing them within a contemporary design context.
Playful Styles
What we’ve picked up on during the fashion shows is a pinch of fun in the new bridal styles. Whether that’s a short dress making its way down the aisle of a playful hemline to add a personalised touch, the SS26 collections are all about making a statement. Bubble hem gowns are taking over the bridal world, and they make a perfect option for destination weddings, chic city styles or a change of outfit for your dance party. These cloud-like styles are well-suited for long skirts, adding a level of newness and fun factor. If you’ve always dreamt of making your way to the altar with a classic ballgown, but still want to add your own twist to it, the bubble hem represents the best of both worlds.
Palette Days

The traditional dominance of bridal white is evolving, giving way to a broader spectrum of acceptable choices for personalising wedding day aesthetics. Brides are increasingly embracing individuality and expressing their unique styles through a wider range of colours, textures, and designs. From ‘something blue’ nuances to bolder choices such as black and pastel tones, the bridal scene is welcoming a new palette for the modern bride. The BBFW catwalk was overflowing with terracotta hues, pinks, and vibrant floral-inspired colours that seemed to have made their way into the bridal designs naturally and effortlessly, welcoming an array of spring and summer hints for outdoor celebrations. More colour in bridal could mean the chance of repurposing these styles on other occasions for a greener and better life for these single-use gowns.
Dressed Up

Embellished creations seemed to dominate the catwalk, from sheer designs adorned with intricate trims, and sleek styles adorned with bedazzling detailing to ooze more flair, jewelled up styles seemed to be the go-to for a wedding day that can easily be taken from day to night. From pearl accents to floral motifs, nature is certainly a world of inspiration for bridal for the spring/summer 2026 collections. Embellishments are a sexy way to elevate a look, creating a memorable appearance as you sparkle down the aisle. More and more jewels and appliques make their stamp on designs, creating a spectacle to turn all heads, whether you are waltzing down the aisle, drinking Champagne at your reception or dancing the night away to your favourite tunes.
All in the Details

The recent runways showcased a striking emphasis on the transformative power of accessories. Beyond mere embellishments, these additions played a pivotal role in redefining and elevating even the most minimalist of bridal ensembles. Dramatic veils, extending in ethereal trails or adorned with intricate lacework, introduced an element of grandeur and tradition. Flowing capes, crafted from delicate fabrics like silk or tulle, offered a modern and romantic alternative to traditional veils, adding movement and elevating designs. Furthermore, the prevalence of detachable pieces signalled a move towards versatility. Sleeves that could be added or removed, ornate belts that cinched the waist and introduced texture, and statement necklaces that framed the décolletage allowed brides to adapt their look throughout the day, transitioning seamlessly from ceremony to reception. These astounding additions underscored the idea that carefully chosen accessories are not simply afterthoughts but integral components in creating a memorable and impactful bridal look.
