Karen & Tom: In the Heart of London

BACK TO WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Karen and Tim coincidentally met during a walking tour in Copenhagen in 2015, and after years of long distance, they finally set their hearts on London and made it their home. Seven years went by and they returned to Copenhagen, and whilst Karen was wondering what was about to happen, Tim had everything planned for a memorable proposal. Karen shares: “I went back & forth on the ‘will he, won’t he’ aspect of it all, but when he casually mentioned that he booked us a private room in a cocktail bar before dinner, I was fairly certain. It was intimate and heartfelt, and the location meant that we could immediately pop open a bottle to celebrate – I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

LONDON CALLING

Karen and Tim, with guests traveling from overseas, chose a summer date – August 10, 2024 – for their wedding to showcase London at its best. Karen, with her American and Italian heritage, and Tim, being English, wanted their loved ones to enjoy the city. Luckily, the weather was perfect for their outdoor reception. The couple still fondly remembers their special day and how their loved ones from all over the world came together to celebrate with them.

GEORGIAN ELEGANCE

“We wanted to combine our vibrant personalities with the stately feel and beauty of 116 Pall Mall by Searcys, a breathtaking venue in central London. The idea was to envelop all of our loved ones in the timeless embrace of a jaw-dropping venue filled with heritage and exquisite details that are a window into the past,” expresses the couple. Sharing this beautiful scene with family and friends was a highlight and also their idea was to create a fun and heartfelt experience full of laughter. Everything was made easy for them, Karen says: “I also cannot say enough positive things about our Searcys Wedding Planner at 116 Pall Mall. She made the whole planning process genuinely enjoyable, and thanks to her I didn’t need to think or stress about a single thing on the day. She also may have saved a groomsman or two when it came to tying a proper bow tie.”

LIGHTHEARTED MOMENTS

The couple shares how much fun it was to kick off the wedding morning surrounded by friends. “The venue had a gorgeous upstairs suite for myself and the bridesmaids, and another one for all of the groomsmen, which just made the whole morning feel like the party before the party. We catered in food, popped champagne, played some music and just soaked it all in. I know some couples are quite strict about not seeing each other at all before the ceremony, but Tim and I were not precious about this, and we loved having some moments together with our bridesmaids and groomsmen before the day properly kicked off.”

CEREMONY OF DREAMS

The walk down the aisle was beautifully planned within the exceptional Nash Room and everything was made more memorable with the love that oozed through the air. The couple share: “the ceremony was our favourite part of the day! Both of my sisters gave the most heartfelt readings, and one of my closest friends, Doug, was our ring bearer (pro tip – if you want to start your ceremony off with a laugh, ask a 30-year-old man to carry the rings down the aisle.) The whole vibe was cheerful and informal – it just felt very us.”
